Bands of Hanahan Staff


Our staff consists of a team of talented individuals who
strive to challenge our students to grow musically and as
individuals during their time with us. We work diligently to
provide an environment where all students are valued

Mr. Tyler Arnold
Director of Bands

Tyler Arnold is a graduate from the University of Michigan, where he received a Master of Music in Composition. He completed his Bachelor of Music Education at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. His principal teachers were Michael Daugherty, Bright Sheng, Nathan Lincoln-DeCusatis, and Wayne Cameron. He also studied conducting under Scott Hippensteel and counterpoint with Paul Schoenfeld.

As a musician, Mr. Arnold has traveled domestically and across Western Europe. To this day, he holds the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris as his favorite performance venue.

Prior to his appointment with Hanahan High School, Mr. Arnold taught in Virginia where he oversaw the Lancaster High School Band. While under his direction, the program was in demand across the region and invited to perform in multiple cities including Richmond, Atlanta, and Orlando. He is enthusiastic to join the Hanahan High School faculty as the new Director of Bands and looks forward to continuing the program’s history of musical excellence.

Mr. Tracy Baker
Color Guard Instructor


Tracy Baker, originally from Kentucky, recently moved to South Carolina from St. Louis, MO. He taught vocal music for 26 years before coming to Hanahan. He holds a bachelor's degree in music education from Murray State University in Kentucky where he also marched color gaurd and also marched mellophone. After moving to St. Louis, he was a graduate assistant at Webster University where he received a master's degree in vocal performance. Later, he attended Lindenwood University and received a master's degree in education with an emphasis in character education. In addition to teaching, Mr. Baker also performed in St. Louis in several venues. He was a principal tenor for the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, the Bach Society of St. Louis, the Church of St. Michael and St. George, and also performed several roles at the Muny, the professional musical theatre venue in St. Louis. For the last 15 years, he was also the choir director and organist for St. John's Episcopal Church.

          Hanahan High School Band Boosters 

The Hanahan High School Band Boosters consists of a team of parents working on behalf of the Bands of Hanahan to ensure that our program is supported adequately. We provide supplemental funding for the Hanahan High School Band and Color Guard Programs. In addition, we help with parent communication, spearheading events, volunteering and so much more!

Here are our roles and responsibilities:

President - Presides over all meetings, formulates vision-casting for the organization, regularly communicates with board members to ensure goals are being met, reviews financial reports, and schedules annual audit of records. 

Vice President - Assists the President with their duties. Helps with fundraising and sponsorship too. Takes over the position of President when needed and/or at the end of their term.

Treasurer- Responsible for reconciling and maintaining accurate records of all monies received and dispersed, prepares monthly financial statements, files tax returns as required, maintains student accounts, submits records to the audit committee in a timely manner. 

Secretary- Attends all board meetings and records detailed minutes, maintains records of the attendance of all meetings and minutes, maintains organization bylaws, conduct and report on all correspondence on behalf of the organization. 

Director of Events
- Oversees the planning, preparation, promotion. and completion of all events. This includes but is not limited to the Parent Preview - Dessert Social, Homecoming Dance, and Band Banquet. 

IT Coordinator- Responsible for oversight of social media, as well as photography and filmography of events, concerts, and competitions. 

Operations- Responsible for the inventory and maintenance of student attire, coordination of props & equipment, ensures the presence of trucks, vans, and trailers as needed for competitions and events, responsible for the maintenance of storage areas.

Concessions & Volunteer Coordinator- Responsible for the planning, preparation, and competition of running the concession stand for Hanahan Rec during Spring Baseball. This includes developing processes, monitoring inventory, and ensuring accurate sales records are maintained. As well as identifying volunteer needs, recruiting and facilitating volunteers for marching band, color guard, winter guard, concessions, and concert & symphonic band activities.

The Bands of Hanahan consists of the Hanahan Marching Pride, Symphonic band, Concert band, Jazz band, Brass ensemble, Percussion ensemble, Color guard, and Winter guard.
